Lindner Hotels boosts service excellence with online English language training from EF
Dusseldorf, Germany, 9th May 2013 - EF Education First, the leading provider of corporate language training, announced today that it has been chosen as the language training supplier for Lindner Hotels & Resorts, the chain of four star hotels in Europe. In choosing EF as their language training provider, Lindner aims to further improve the quality of service in their hotels.
Lindner prides itself on the world-class quality of service offered at its hotels; they view the interaction between their guests and employees as the linchpin to their competitive advantage and, therefore, aim to deliver service beyond guests’ expectations. With more and more international guests visiting the hotels, this guest-employee interaction increasingly requires the use of English. Historically, Lindner had adopted a decentralized approach to language training, with each hotel arranging their own face-to-face training. However, it became clear that this was leading to differing proficiencies across the hotels and was not the best way to ensure a single standard of service group-wide. Lindner therefore sought out an English training provider that could offer a unified training solution across all 36 hotels in Europe. This search led them to EF’s cloud-based school, EfektaTM. Learning online means that all Lindner employees can be trained in the same way, to the same standards and can be measured against the same targets. Gunnar von Hagen, Corporate Director Operations and Central Project Management, Lindner commented: “The move to online training was a logical one. As an international brand, it was imperative for us to ensure a consistent customer experience in each hotel, as this builds a strong reputation internationally; online English training allows us to achieve this”. Since spoken English is the most important skill for hotel-workers, the fact that EF offered teacher-led virtual conversation classes around the clock was a great benefit for Lindner. Practicing the spoken language in small groups really helps to build employees’ confidence to interact with guests in English.
Lindner was also impressed with EF’s Frontline range of courses which are designed to improve the English of customer-facing staff. EF has created a Frontline course specifically for the Hotels and Guest Services industry which includes all the vocabulary that front-desk staff need on a daily basis such as checking guests in, giving directions and dealing with customer requests. Lindner opted to train the front-desk staff in all of their hotels using the EF Frontline course. But it’s not just the customer-facing hotel employees that are being trained in English, hotel management and strategic personnel working in the headquarters are also being trained. Von Hagen explains: “We are looking to expand the Lindner hotel chain into new markets and we believe that training key HQ staff in English will expedite this expansion. It should improve internal communication efficiencies and speed up the research process. English proficiency is crucial to our competitive advantage and, as such, is a strategic priority for the whole business.”
Peter Burman, President, EF Education First added “At EF we believe language training should be tailored to each company’s specific needs to get the best results. This is why we are creating a range of in-depth, industry-specific Frontline courses. We are delighted that Lindner has selected EF as their language training provider and is utilizing the Frontline course to support their expansion effort”.
